Everything you need to know before joining us in the dojo — schedules, what to bring, how classes work, and what to expect on your first day.
Classes are held every Saturday from 12:00-2:00. Classes are located at Tobin Community Center in Roxbury.
Classes can consist of a mixture of 4 parts.
There is free on street parking available. It can also be reached by taking the 19 or 66 bus lines. It is also accessible from Green Line at the Brigham Circle or from the Orange Line at Robury Crossing.
Your first class will be welcoming, structured, and beginner‑friendly. We’ll show you how to bow into the dojo, where to stand, and how to follow along at your own pace.
Class begins with a light warm‑up, followed by fundamental techniques, partner drills, and practical self‑defense applications. You’ll learn how to move safely, stay aware, and apply techniques responsibly. No experience is required — we meet you where you are.
Bring comfortable athletic clothing and remove jewelry, watches, shoes and socks. You will also want to bring a water bottle.
There are no contracts, no hidden fees and no equipment required to be purchased from us. We do offer uniform for purchase but do not require that you purchase from us.
We are available to provide self-defense seminars for groups or retreats. We will provide all equipment as well as our group of instructors. Please contact us for pricing and more information.
